Chief McDonald - Fighting The Big C

From the time he was 18 years old, Assistant Chief Rick McDonald has been a firefighter, both for the Enfield Fire District and for the Somers Fire Department. Over the years, he has responded to everything from medical incidents, to motor vehicle collisions, to blazes that have destroyed historical buildings. He has always fought fire with every fiber of his being. At some point every fire surrendered, and every situation was mitigated.

He is now in a new fight, the fight against “The Big C” as he calls it, and he plans on it relenting the same way that every incident he has been involved in has.

After battling back from a serious heart attack almost 8 years ago, Assistant Chief McDonald was completely caught off guard when he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a type of bone cancer. As it is very well documented, the treatments for cancer are extensive, arduous, and hard. They require travel and time off from work.

Please consider making a donation to that fund to help Rick and his wife Deb with the costs associated with his cancer treatments, improvements that need to be made to the home to accommodate Assistant Chief McDonald’s condition and needs, and their day-to-day living expenses.
