Band of the Land Ethiopia Trip
Donation protected
We, Band of the Land are a soulful trio hailing from deep within Vermont’s Green Mountains. Our sound combines elements of acoustic roots, soul, and conscious reggae. Band of the Land draws inspiration from the natural world, activism around global issues, and much more. Band of the Lands’ repertoire consists of original tunes written collaboratively in uplifting three-part harmony.
Through connections at the Willowell Foundation (http://www.willowell.org/) and Akido Ethiopia (http://www.aikiextensions.org/)
, Band of the Land has been given the opportunity to travel and perform in Ethiopia for the month of August 2016. We will be travelling to Addis Abbaba and Awasa, to volunteer, and tour with the One Love Theater group (http://onelovetheater.org/).
Our first two weeks in Ethiopia will be spent teaching and learning music with youth and artists from the One Love Theatre group. The Willowell Foundation has generously provided us with instruments to bring and distribute amongst the children we will be working with. For the remaining week in Ethiopia we will join the One Love Theatre group as they tour through rural towns in the South of the country. This will be a great opportunity for us as a band to make a positive impact by assisting artists with limited resources, and sharing knowledge with enthusiastic musicians. This is a tremendous chance for Band of the Land to learn, grow, and share music while experiencing immersion in the rich, vibrant and diverse cultures of Ethiopia. In doing so, we hope to establish positive connections through music.
