Ban Ku Muang School Library!

Donation protected
Hello!  After graduating from Franklin and Marshall College, and teaching in Spain for three years, I have moved to Thailand and am currently teaching English at  Ban Ku Muang  School, through the bi-national Fulbright Program.

In just a few short weeks, the school has stolen my heart with it's positive learning environment, happy community, and methods of encouraging students to learn by doing.

The school personnel know that each student learns differently and methods that work for one, may not work for others.  They are constantly striving to find new ways to teach important life skills that will help each individual student succeed in their own brilliant future.

The Director's goal is to find a way to reach each student, whether it be through critical thinking in the classroom, encouraging them to learn from local village experts and elders, or teaching them local farming techniques and skills on the school farm that he brought to Ban Ku Muang School.

The teachers and the director share the same vision for the school: student focused learning.  Here, it really is all about the students.

This year, the school would like to build a library in a vacant lot next to the school ground.  This library will be filled with donated books and will provide a place for students to continue to expand their interests and learn outside of the classroom.

The farming village is mostly poor, and the school is funded by the government.  Behind each project is a team of school personnel who work extremely hard to make the students' future brighter.  The school gives 10 scholarships a year, to those who want to continue their studies, but cannot, due to financial hardships.

There is no library in the village, no computers at home, and sadly most students cannot afford their own books or school supplies. This public space would provide them with the unique opportunity of being able to explore the world on their own.

Any contribution, whatever amount, will be the difference for these little learners.

The school and I thank you for your generosity and even if you cannot donate at this time, thank you for taking the time to read this!
