Baking Robots to World Championship

To whom it may concern,
We are The Baking Robots. We are a team of two 12 year old boys that live in Vermillion, AB who are participating in VEX Robotics. VEX Robotics is a
robotics group promoting learning in the fields of robotics and engineering. They issue a challenge in the form of a game, then all competitors will design and build their robots to solve the challenge. VEX
hosts competitions all over the world with the prizes for winning being scholarships and jobs.
VEX is aimed at high school level boys and girls. Larger schools will often have a robotics class in which the students use school parts to build and compete with their robots. We are not funded by a school because
our school is too small to offer us this program so we are without parts or a teacher. We are very different from other teams because we must fundraise for every part and to enter any competition.
To compete in VEX, we held a bake sale so we could buy $1200 of robot parts. We also raised, at the same time, $600 for charity. We are now looking for some sponsors to help further fund-raise so we can travel and compete in the VEX world competition. On the backs of our shirts, which we wear while competing and doing interviews, we are placing the names of all the companies or groups that sponsor us.
In the Alberta Provincial Competition, we placed fourth over all out of 37 teams, won second in programming skills and third in driver control. Because of our standing, we were invited to be one of four teams
representing Alberta in the World VEX Competition in Louisville, Kentucky and The Pacific Northwest Regional Competition in Burnaby, BC.
We have done well at all our competitions as shown above and would like to compete at a higher level but we can not make a better robot with the parts we have. Because we have done so well and are the youngest
competitors there, with almost everyone else being 2-5 years older than us, we have attracted the attention of the news media and we have been featured on CTV Nightly News, The Edmonton Sun, The Vermillion Voice and The Lloydminister Source.
