Specialized High School Autism Project
With the rise in autism spectrum disorders, high schools are no longer
equipped to cater to the individual needs of students with autism and
Aspergers syndrome. School districts in Illinois are trying to
create specialized educational programs and facilities for these
students.
If you know someone with an autism spectrum disorder, you know that they
often need specialized activities in order to learn successfully. With
$1000 we can buy new computer programs for an entire computer lab. With
$5000 we can reserve a room solely for the purpose of autism education
(at the moment they are simply classified as special needs and are
placed in the same class as other special needs children.) With $10,000
we can hire an additional part time teacher. As the monetary values go
up, we can do more and more for these children.
