January 29th will mark the 2 year anniversary of the day I was mugged and shot outside my house in NW DC. Yesterday, inspired by the efforts of Gabrielle Giffords and Mark Kelly I launched a fundraising campaign in support of their cause, Americans for Responsible Solutions http://americansforresponsiblesolutions.org/.
With the tremendous support of so many we raised over $1,150 in the first 24hrs. In the coming weeks and months my goal is to raise $12,911, representing the day I was shot (1/29/11), so that together we can take leadership and shared responsibly to address these issues:
- to ensure the safety of the guns we may own
- the call for action to address mental illness and assist those suffering
- responsible changes to gun laws, and
- the comfort compassion and love for all those who we encounter.
I ask for your support, your leadership, and your shared commitment so that together we can make a meaningful impact!
Thank you,
Andrew

I am asking for your support to raise funds for Gabrielle Giffords' and Mark Kelly's Americans for Responsible Solutions. My goal is for the donations to reach $12,911, representing the day my life was forever changed 01/29/11.
21 days after watching the Tucson mass shooting
that killed six people and severely wounded Rep. Gabby Giffords the
unthinkable happened to me. On January 29th, 2011, I was mugged and shot
just outside my
home in Northwest Washington DC.
The bullet just missed my spine and a major artery
to my liver. It collapsed my lung, severed my liver, and punctured my
diaphragm. Through the LOVE and SUPPORT of friends, family and all those
in my life I made a full recovery and actively seek to live each day to
the fullest.
Though different in magnitude, Rep. Gabby Giffords
and I both share the personal, horrific experience of gun violence. She is
a tremendous inspiration in my life because of her willingness to make a
difference, her joy for life and her courage through unimaginable hardship.
Whether Tucson or DC, Aurora or Columbine, Virginia
Tech, Oregon, or, most recently, Newton, far too many have been affected.
We are naturally appalled at these horrendous shootings. The time has come
for a productive discussion and action.
The issue requires leadership and a call for shared
responsibly:
- To ensure the safety of the guns we may own and the right to their
ownership
- The call for action to address mental illness and assist those
suffering
- For responsible changes to gun laws
- For comfort, compassion and love for all whom we encounter
Together we can create the change we want to see and encourage a productive national debate on the issue by supporting the Americans for Responsible Solutions PAC.
Thank you for your support!

Brief
Blurb on the American for Responsible Solutions PAC:
Two
years ago, a mentally ill young man shot Gabby Giffords in the head, killed six
of her constituents, and wounded 12 others. Since that terrible day, America
has seen 11 more mass shootings – but no response from Congress to prevent gun
violence. After the massacre of 20 children and six of their teachers at Sandy
Hook Elementary though, it’s clear: This time must be different.
Americans
for Responsible Solutions will encourage elected officials to stand up for
solutions to prevent gun violence and protect responsible gun ownership by
communicating directly with the constituents that elect them.
Join me today by signing up to demand responsible solutions to reduce gun violence: http://americansforresponsiblesolutions.org/
