She is a warrior, and ready to spread her light and love with the world!

Update: 7/12/18 We are planning to travel to Stanford July 31st to see a cardiologist for a third opinion so he can help us with getting a letter of medical necessity and the procedure covered with CCS. We contacted Stanford Children’s Hospital for a Third Opinion in Jan 2018 and Dr. Frank Hanley https://profiles.stanford.edu/frank-hanley sent us an amazing review of her condition and believes he can repair her heart. Since Dr. Hanley is very popular he doesn’t have availability until Oct 2018. So we are on schedule for Heart Surgery in Oct 2018. We still have challenges to get over, our insurance so far has denied the surgery in Boston since it is out of state and also not recommended by our home hospital Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. We have been told that it will be difficult for them to cover the procedure at Stanford as well because of the Opinion of CHLA, Since then we have meet with her Current Heart Surgeon Dr. Kim at CHLA to request that he help us write a letter of medical necessity but he has been uncooperative stating that we should just enjoy Annabelle now because her quality of life now may be the best she ever has it. CHLA only wants to offer Annabelle end of life care surgery as instead of life saving surgery like Boston or Stanford.. So we fight, we advocate and we pray we will be able to get there..

Update: 12/15/17 We have consulted with Boston Children’s Hospital they believe they can attempt a Bi-Ventricle repair which is an actual fix of Annabelle’s Heart. They want to start the process in April 2018 they will have to do surgery in 2 stages. We are planning to be in Boston for about 4 weeks to give time Annabelle to heal.

Update: 6/13/2017 March 17th 2016 Annabelle had her second heart surgery a Bidirectional Glenn Shunt there were some compilations and she ended up requiring within the same week 3 other surgeries. Currently Annabelle has been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and on Oxygen and a Pulse Oximiter which needs monitoring 24/7. She is on a series of medication for her Blood Clotting and lung / heart fluid retention. She has pulmonary hypertension and is mostly in good spirits most of the time.

Annabelle Moon was born in October 2016 in Pasadena, CA. Diagnosed at birth with a congenital heart condition and soon rushed From Huntington Hospital to Children's Hospital Los Angeles where doctors told her mother Crislyn Sand that Annabelle was born with Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome) and a congenital heart defect called Unbalanced Complete Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD), with Hypoplastic Right Ventricle, with Moderate AV Valve Insufficiency.

At only 2 days old; Doctors told her mother that there was no cure for Annabelle's condition and she would eventually show signs of congestive heart failure and pass away, they suspected that it would be within the year. The next day staff put their years of experience and knowledge together and offered Annabelle Moon hope to preserve her arteries and valves so they could potentially do surgeries on her in the future to help extend her life. A plan was formed. Annabelle Moon would require three heart surgeries to give her a fighting chance to love, live and grow.

On October 18, 2016 only a few weeks old: Annabelle underwent the first surgery called a Pulmonary artery Band which was to preserve her arteries and lungs so she could have her second surgery and give her body time to grow.

On our following Facebook page you can see what equipment we use daily to educate and strengthening her to give her the best life possible.
