I (Alicia Stephens) was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma on June 12, 2015. I am the mother of 2 loving children ages 10 and 11 and a wife to an amazing man. We run a small farmers market style farm that I operate with my best friend / husband of 18 years. I also work part time at the college and keep house for my elderly Great Aunt and Great Uncle.
My family already runs paycheck to paycheck since I am just beginning my senior year in college at Herron School of art and Design to obtain my bachelors degree in Fine Arts as a Painter. www.aliciastephens.net
Im am looking at having to cut my work hours, as well as losing my full time scholarship, Our farm has not been open nor have enough crops been planted to sell due to weekly doctors appointments. (Since I have been too weak to help my husband on the farm a lot has gone by the wayside) At school I will be needing to drop back to part time, if any time to endure the chemo treatments to get past this. At some point, most likely sometime after November I will need to go into the hospital for stem cell replacement, but in addition to losing income we are adding large expenses with grabbing food on the way home because of lengthy appointments like when I need a transfusion. (this has all transpored within the last month so I have not had time nor energy to put away extra meals in the freezer to have ready to go)
We do have insurance, but we have not yet reached the co-pay stage (but we are extremely close) I don't know how much transfusions are but Im sure they are not cheap and I don't know if I would be here typing this without the 3 I have received in the last month. As everyone knows the Family leave act is a non paid leave, and once my husband (the main income for the house) reaches the end of his paid leave we will be in dire straits.
I would like to ask If any of you would be willing to help financially it would be greatly appreciated.
