Jaylins Stroller

My beautiful 9 year old daughter Jaylin has a dual diagnosis of Down Syndrome and Autism. It is nearly impossible to go anywhere with her without her stroller which after 3 years of wear and tear has seen better days. Unfortunately, purchasing a new one isn't that easy, since they cost near the same as an older used car. Jaylin tires after a short distance and has no concept of safety. She is a "runner" meaning she will try to "escape" wherever she is and without any direction as to where she is headed. This leaves her a danger to herself and others. More unfortunate is that the system doesn't work for everybody. Since Jaylin is capable of walking, we have been denied assistance through government aide. They don't take into consideration all the other factors that require her to use the stroller. She not only has outgrown our current stroller, the wheels are almost unmanageable at this point and soon we won't be able to take her out. A new stroller would mean the world to us. Jaylin is a "headbanger" and not the heavy metal music kind. She bangs her head on objects (including the bars to her current stroller).
