House our Homeless Veterans

I want to raise money to help combat something very personal to me.  Veterans living on our streets.  As many of you may know I am an (almost) 20 year Army veteran of both the Iraq and Afghan campaigns.  I live in a wonderful city (Colorado Springs) which is home to Fort Carson, a divisional Army post with over 20,000 soldiers, as well as 2 Air Force bases and the Air Force Academy.  This city values and honors Vets for the most part but there is still a large problem with Vets not having a safe, warm and dry place to sleep.  There are numerous homeless camps along the banks of Fountain Creek and many of the residents are Vets.  In winter it nearly kills me to see these folks huddled in the snow by small fires outside of tents and ramshackle shelters.  Many of these folks will not even attempt to go to shelters due to restrictions place upon them there and many underlying problems common amongst Vets such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, PTSD and effects of TBIs.  My vision is to be able to develop a large, simple residential complex to provide what I believe is the LEAST we owe our veterans....a warm, safe and dry place to sleep.  Any money raised will go directly to providing shelter and warmth for these Vets.  I want to start now to try and get what I can before another winter arrives here in the Rockies.  If you have any questions PLEASE contact me.  If I can keep one Vet warm next winter I will have at least done SOMETHING.
