Volunteer Teaching in Ghana

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Hunter Anderson and I am graduating this June at Kelso High School. I have lived in Kelso almost my whole life and wish to see more of the world and volunteer as a teacher in Ghana for 6 months.

This October 15th I am planning on traveling to the Greater Accra region of Ghana with IVHQ to teach english and other subjects in classroom settings that do not have enough teachers to educate as many children as there are currently. I plan on being in Ghana for 6 months teaching english. Why this long? because I beleive in order to really make a lasting effect on the community you need to be committed and fully immerse yourself in what you do. This level of attention to the program just cannot be done with a short trip to teach for a week or even a month.

My goal to raise $7,000 to fund my trip is based on the trips that others have taken on their volunteer trips with IVHQ to Ghana and are made up mostly of airfare to and from Ghana, the IVHQ program fee, travel insurance and various supplies for teaching along with money for water and food when I am not with the volunteer agency in country.

With this trip it could effect the lives of not just me but countless others who learn English, math, music and art. I have the chance to go on this lifechanging journey and with your help I can really make a difference. Even donating $5 will help me make it to my goal.
