I've always been an ardent fan of the late author Robert Pirsig's wonderful Book, 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'.  Many think his book is factual and about his now epic ride, but in fact it's purely a philosophy book.

For those too young to know. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values by Robert M. Pirsig, is a book that was first published in 1974. It is a work of fictionalized autobiography, and is the first of Pirsig's texts in which he explores his Metaphysics of Quality. The title is an apparent play on the title of the book Zen in the Art of Archery by Eugen Herrigel.

I'm going on this ride to Look For America while I give a lot of thought to retracing Robert Pirsig's  pursuit  of values. I'm going to retrace some of the routes he took with his son, and try to examine why I am so driven to learn more about many of our misplaced values, and how to find the America I've been yearning to see.

i quit my job and gave up my apartment, I have no savings, just a burning desire to make this third of my life more than worrying about how much did I get for the last photograph I sold, or how much did I make on the sale of that motorcycle.

I'm seeking a few things with this trip:
i want my life back.
i want a life of quality.
i want a meaningful life.
i want to find out about me and my place in this life, 

I will be constantly updating this written blog, along with my photos and my words. I want you to experience the weird and wonderful and the slightly strange as I photograph , write, and spin a yarn or two about the places that I've been. Interested?

Then come along with me as I look at tthe coastline and I listen to the sea, wondering if the road life is for me, for I know where'd I'd go if I were free, down to the islands with the tropic trade breezes which whirl my head and set my heart free.
