Ruth Wood, good samaritan, hit w/tragedy
Donation protected
Ruth Wood, owner of Pure Nutrition in Cool Springs, was acting as a good samaritan on Valentine's weekend. During her act of kindness, she sustained a shattered hip and "beyond" shattered leg with two compound fractures. She has a rod and 52 pieces of hardware in her leg. Her medical bills have now surpassed $2Mil., with much more to come. The teen she was helping was having seizures while driving. He had no vehicle insurance. Neither did his parents. He didn't even have medical coverage, despite his history of seizures. Although Ruth has medical coverage, it doesn't cover everything. She still has co-pays, prescriptions, etc. She is an entrepreneur trying to stay afloat, just received her college degree (so student loan payments are now due), and is married with 2 children, one of which is special needs. Obviously, she has a lot on her plate. It is simply not fair that she risks losing everything she's worked so hard for, just because she was being a compassionate person. Ruth doesn't want to gain anything financially. She simply wants help with her out-of-pocket expenses.
