Meet Humvee:
This little mush melted our hearts from the first day we saw him. We found him malnourished and saved him from a neglectful owner. We loved him from the first second, yet had no idea the impact he would make on us.
Throughout the next 9 months, Humvee became the perfect sidekick. Always with us, always giving kisses, always filling our lives with joy. He adjusted well to his new home and was the happiest pup around!
We decided to move across the country (NYC to LA) and Humvee came with us. He loved California, playing with pup friends at the park, running around the reservoir, and basking in the sun.
Things drastically changed when we came home to find Humvee's leg broken. He got it hooked on a shelf and snapped it trying to break free.
The surgeon told us that the break was bad and required surgery. They quoted us between $4000-$6000. With heavy hearts, we applied for a credit card specifically for vet expenses. Only $500 was issued and we were left to make some major decisions. We absolutely did not have the money - we just used our savings to move across the country and were only in the state for 2 weeks. Our jobs haven't start yet and we just don't have the income.
We thought about our options. Putting Humvee down came up in conversation but I absolutely can't let that happen. He's the light of our lives and the most loving and sweet animal in the world. He hasn't given up on us through our ups and downs, and we can't give up on him. Putting off surgery is leaving him in pain and can lead to infection or amputation.
