Help Pay My Dad's PLUS Loans!

This is my Dad. His name is Katsusuke, but you can call him Peter, if you like. He is one of the most inspiring people in my life. He is a 70 years old, was born in Osaka, Japan, and has worked just about every day of his life. Unfortunately, due to some financial setbacks, he is still having to work just about every day of his life.

My father never had much by ways of education, he even left school early to work and went to night school to graduate high school so that he could support his mother and his brother when he was young. When he was in his twenties he came to Canada and then America to be able to work to settle his own father's debts. Since then he has worked any number of jobs"”television repair, apartment manager, TV antenna installer, laser disk machine seller, you name it. He has owned businesses flipping houses, bringing Japanese exchange students to the U.S, and managing rental units. Along the way he married my mom and raised four kids, teaching us all to be independant minded, creative, and to work hard at our goals.

I had always worked hard for my dad, so when I started college in 2003, he took the brunt of the weight with a Federal PLUS loan. With his help I was able to get a Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He was in a pretty stable position at the time, owning several rental units that brought in good income.

But then a wildfire burned down one of the rental units, just as the San Diego market was starting to collapse and turn upside down, and soon ALL of his main sources of income were gone.

He had always been able to support his family, but just as most people his age were thinking about retirement, all of a sudden my dad had to virtually start all over"”again. He is still trying to recover from the economic downturn, and like I said, he is still having to work hard, at 70 years old.

The worst part, though, is that on top of everything else, he also has almost 50,000 worth of student loan debt.

I do everything I can to help, because that debt really belongs to me, but it is a big negative on my dad's credit, and that is just not fair to him, and the faster he can pay it off, the less sleepless nights we'll both have.

I know 45,000 is a lofty goal to say the least, but any little bit would help.

Thank you so and God bless,
