McKamy Destination Imagination

We are Spontaneous Combustion, an all female Destination Imagination team from Flower Mound, Tx. Some of us have been involved in this great program since first grade. Every year we pick an academic challenge that requires us to work together as a team to solve a problem.
This is our first year to try to solve the the Improv Challenge, Pandemonium. We qualified through our Regional (1st). and State (2nd) tournaments for Global Finals, which takes place in Knoxville, TN on May 20. We have a chance to meet and compete with other teens from all over the country and the world, including China, Korea, Guatamala, Turkey, and many other countries.
But Global Finals is expensive. It costs about $1,200 to $1,300 per person. We have five team members and three adults, including our Team Manager, who are attending and chaperoning. We are very grateful to our Lewisville Independent School District and McKamy Middle School for providing us with some substantial help for our room and board and event passes, but we still need to cover our travel expenses, mandatory t shirts, snacks, pins, and other incidentals of our trip.

Team members are Amelia, Brynna, Miranda, Lindsay and Tanya. Team Managers are Liz and Robert (Robert is staying home to cut costs). Other parents attending and chaperoning are Phyllis and Shawn. Liz is the one in the funny medieval veil because she also does historical reenactment with the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA).
