Paving the Way for Amelia Earhart

Please join this extraordinary community effort to install a beautiful life size bronze sculpture of Amelia Earhart on the campus of Amelia Earhart Elementary School in Alameda, CA.

Thanks to the Davis Family Foundation's generous grant to the Frank Bette Center for the Arts, a bronze sculpture of Amelia Earhart was commissioned. The Center is gifting it in perpetuity to the school.

Funds are needed to ensure the safe and secure installation of this beautiful sculpture created by Jane deDecker.

You can be a part of this historic opportunity to bring public art to Bay Farm Island by making a tax-deductible donation to the campaign.

This is a joint effort of Amelia Earhart Elementary School and the Frank Bette Center for the Arts.

Please help us reach our fundraising goal. Any level of support is greatly appreciated.

The Legacy...

Amelia Earhart is the most celebrated aviatrix in history and was one of the most famous women of her time. As America's charismatic “Lady of the Air,” she set many aviation records, including becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic in 1928 as a passenger, the first woman (and second person after Lindbergh) to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1932, and the first person to fly alone across the Pacific, from Honolulu, Hawaii, to Oakland, California, in 1935. In an era when men dominated aviation, she was truly a pioneer.
