Malawi Mommy Bags

The Kenney Community Center at Union College is helping students fundraise for pregnant women in Malawi, a landlocked nation in Africa. Often, women give birth in unsafe conditions, resulting in high infant mortality rates.

The money raised will enable us to prepare "Mommy Bags," which cost $5 each, and will include simple but necessary tools to promote the health of Mom and her baby. Included in the waterproof bags are: a onesie for the newborn, a receiving blanket, soap, sheets, alcohol swabs, scalpels, blades and ties for the umbilical cord.
