Gavin's Giving Page

Our cousin Gavin is a sweet, shy, seven year old boy. He loves art and swimming, and is exceptionally intellgent. He is fascinated by geography and can accurately draw, name and recite facts about several countries most people have never heard of. On top of that, he has a great head of blonde hair.
This past spring Gavin was diagnosed with Duchenne musculary dystrophy (DMD). This is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness due to a lack of a protein called dystrophin. Duchenne is the most common and severe form of musclar dystrophy. Gradually the muscles deteriorate, making everyday activities such as walking and sitting upright a challenge.
Eventually, braces and then a wheelchair will be necessary for Gavin. He will need an adaptive van, ramps and other devices that will support his needs. These items will be costly and the medical bills are already mounting. The last thing we want his parents to have to worry about are the financial burdens brought on by the needs of this disease .
