Crystal Bailey Cancer updates

"‹Crystal Bailey is one of the hardest working women I've ever known. She puts her family and friends ahead of her own needs much of the time. She has a smile that won't quit, a sense of humor that always comes through, and a heart as big as the whole outdoors!

Two weeks ago she was diagnosed with a large...and I mean Large...mass in her abdomen. It's pushing all her organs up into her chest because it's so big. It grew from nothing to the size of a newborn infant in just over a month. They've put her on vitamins and medications for pain, nausea, and infections. She's been to several doctors and been put through test after test after test. Today (March 12, 2014) she begins her pre-op work. Thursday pre-op work continues. Friday (March 14, 2014) she goes into hospital at 6am and will have surgery at 8:45am. Her oncologist will remove the mass and both of her ovaries. She will possibly also remove her uterus. They may have to call in another surgeon to remove her gall bladder. We find out after surgery if she will need chemotherapy, radiation, and other treatments.
I'm asking for help today because our funds have officially run dry. Co-pays are mounting up. The hospital and surgeons are asking for 15% to 25% each up front before they operate on her. The hospital is $1,200.00. The oncologist is $1,500.00. There is going to be a separate bill for the anesthesiologist and the second surgeon. There will probably be more than that that we don't even know about yet. Her medications are outrageously expensive even with her insurance. Then there are the outside expenses that go along with all this like her rent so she has a place to recover, the over the counter things the doctor is requiring her to get for her health, food that she can eat during those lucky moments when she feels well enough to try to eat, bills, and so on and so on...it feels never ending right now. And those numbers are just climbing. It's becoming overwhelming.

The last thing she needs is to be laying in her sick bed or hospital room or on the surgeon's table worrying about how to pay for all this. Her focus should be on healing and getting well again. We (her family) have done all we can financially and will continue to do all we can. But, as everyone knows, money is so tight these days. I know everyone is struggling. But if you could spare even just a little it would help ease her mind and lighten her heart as she faces the biggest fight of her life. She's fighting so hard too. I know it's a lot to ask during these hard times but I'm asking for your help for Crystal. She really needs it.
