HASA CASA 2014: 20th Anniversary

On March 29, 2014 Latinos Unidos (LU, formerly Casa Dominicana) and the Haitian American Student Association (HASA) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst will be coming together to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of HASA/CASA. This year's theme is One Island, One Love, with goals of highlighting both the struggle and the unity of both countries that comprise the island of Hispaniola: Dominican Republic and Haiti. This event is a powerful and meaningful tradition as it has been a longstanding celebration at UMass, making us want to make it even more special at this year's event.

Throughout the years, HASA CASA has helped students not only of Dominican or Haitian origin but of all cultural backgrounds to unite forces and commemorate diversity, awareness and peace in the world. This mission has been achieved primarily through the performing arts of music, dancing, acting, poetry, etc. This year, we would like to speak on behalf of a larger scale not only inclusive of the university but its alumni as well.
