Inspire Nashville College Initiative

Thank you so much for visiting! This page is for and about an amazing and inspirational young man named Israel Tovar. He hails from Nashville, Antioch area and attended Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet High School. He is currently a freshmen at Yale. Israel is a great guy: heart of gold, first generation college, a Gates scholar, just a wonderful young man. 
This summer, he hopes to develop a summer project/campaign that raises college awareness in Nashville's low-income communities. The campaign would consist of going to different high schools that have large populations of low-income students to give presentations on college, the college application process, as well as other enrichment opportunities that are currently available to them as high school students. The high schools would include Antioch, Cane Ridge, MacGavock, Overton, Glencliff, Hunters Lane, and Maplewood High Schools.The Nashville school district has given him access to do this work in the schools. He is now looking for financial support in part because his family doesn't own a car.
