Please join us in supporting the Suarez Family
Todd Suarez has battled RSD since 2005, when he was injured in the line of duty while serving with the Sandusky Police Department. During an altercation at a domestic violence call, Todd suffered a debilitating fibula fracture. For years, Todd was essentially immobilized and experienced very limited use of his leg. The injuries ended Todd's proud career in law enforcement, and also proved to create future hardships, economic burden, and a variety of lifestyle changes.
(What is RSD? Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome is a nerve disorder characterized by chronic severe burning pain, pahological change in bone and skin, tissue swelling, and extreme sensitivity to touch.)
More persistent than the chronic pain of RSD, has been the love and commitment of Todd's wife, Molly. Born and raised in the Sandusky area, Molly graduated from Bowling Green State University and currently works for the Massillon City Schools. Todd and Molly moved to Lake Township in 2008, and soon welcomed the birth of their son, Sam. Along with her duties of motherhood, Molly selflessly balances her time between marriage, career, and caregiving.
A typical day in the Suarez house is not like most others in the neighborhood. Todd maintains a steady diet of numerous medications, long periods of disabling exhaustion, and experiences extremely high levels of pain. The family spends hours traveling to, waiting on, and enduring medical appointments. A majority of the treatment continues to take place in Sandusky, nearly two hours from their Stark County home.
For the last nine years, the Suarez Family has fought hard to receive the proper medical attention required to treat Todd's injuries. A myriad of hurdles have challenged the family's aspirations for advanced treatment, improved mobility, and comprehensive health. Recently, the Suarez's received news that Todd was eligible to attend a unique comprehensive care program at the Cleveland Clinic. This program is designed to treat patients with disabling chronic pain through physical, psychological, and occupational therapy.
This opportunity also comes at a premium cost. However, the price to assist a great son, brother, father, husband, and friend can not be foregone. With that commitment in mind, the family and friends of Todd, Molly, and Sammy Suarez formally invite you to join in the support.
