There are over 100 ghost hunting shows on TV and the Web and more than 3,000 groups of pararnormal investigators in the U.S. alone. Why is ghost hunting so popular? What makes the paranormal people tick? Why do they make it their life mission to look for ghosts? What makes their community unique? As an applied anthropologist, I am trying to find out what motivates, inspires, and and describes the paranormal world and its participants. In order to do this, I need to raise the funds to purchase hi-def video and audio equipment, pay for travel and lodging, and hire a professional post-production person.
