Ukraine Relief Fund: For Maidan

Official donation site of Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

Ukraine is in crisis and we need your help immediately! Please share this site with all your friends and family.

Funds collected are for:
- humanitarian aid in Kyiv and throughout Ukraine
- support of a civil society to help life return to normal
- support for Ukrainian heroes  and their families who were hurt or killed while peacefully demonstrating during Maidan in support of democracy and freedom
- help support democracy in Ukraine and fight against corruption

Ukraine Relief Fund is sponsored by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and is to provide much needed humanitarian aid to support those on Maidan and throughout Ukraine who have been fighting for their freedom and for basic human rights since November 2013 in sub-zero temperatures. Items that these funds will be used for include medical supplies for the field hospitals and city hospitals that have dwindling or no supplies, blankets, heating pads, food, sleeping bags, coats, and many more supplies that are needed.

We are asking Canadians, Americans, Europeans, and those who support freedom to donate!

The Euromaidan (Ukrainian: Євромайдан, Yevromaidan, literally "Eurosquare")is a wave of ongoing demonstrations and civil unrest in Ukraine, which began on the night of 21 November 2013 with public protests demanding closer European integration. The scope of the protests has since evolved, with many calls for the resignation of President Viktor Yanukovych and his government, which happened in February. Many protesters joined because of the violent dispersal of protesters on 30 November and "a will to change life in Ukraine".By 25 January 2014, the protests had been fueled by the perception of widespread government corruption, abuse of power, and violation of human rights in Ukraine. In February, violence erupted against the peaceful demonstrators by the special police and over 100 people lost their lives in support of freedom with over 2000 wounded.

This heroic effort by so many, with thousands still demonstarting in the capital Kyiv at Maidan or Independence Square, is being conducted by people just like you and me. There are university students, high school students, parents, teachers, professors, engineers, doctors, lawyers, tradespeople, mothers, fathers, grandparents.... all who are exercising their democratic right to assemble and fight for basic human rights and freedom.

The Euromaidan Canada movement originated in Toronto, not long after students in Kyiv started to assemble on the Maidan in November 2013. An adhoc committee was formed and planning around awareness events began. As the movement grew, it became an adhoc committee of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, and today events, awareness campaigns and information sessions are being organized by Euromaidan Canada committees across Canada in the name of the UCC.

Please share this with your friends, family, and network! We can all help whether its $10, $50, or more! Every bit helps.
