Help Us Get Choco Back!

Donation protected

Our sweet Lhasa Apso, Choco, had been in boarding at an animal hospital while we were unable to have her home due to me being out of town and my child living in a place where pets were not allowed. As my time out of town lengthened and the total cost of boarding continued to grow, I tried to make arrangements to pay and have somebody else take Choco out of boarding, but this was rejected as the hospital insisted that I had to come in person to sign the payment arrangements.

As they continued to hold onto our dog as I was out of town, the costs eventually surpassed what we could pay at once, and they sent us a notice saying that she was being considered abandoned--even though we had tried making arrangements with them multiple times. After going back and forth with them and getting an attorney involved, we managed to make arrangements to pay and pick up Choco.

On Monday, February 24th, we were supposed to pick her up and make the first of the payments. However, the bank put an additional hold on the money we were using to take Choco out of boarding, and on that day, the animal hospital adopted our dog out to another family.

Choco is an important member of our family. She has been with us for 5 years and has lived with us through thick and thin. My child picked her out when she was only a few weeks old. She was the runt of her litter and while her siblings were rambunctious and loud, she was gentle and calm and we fell in love with her instantly. When we got her home, she turned out to be more energetic and silly than she had at first seemed, but her sweet disposition never changed, and it never has.

Any pet owner should understand the depth of the love one has for their pets, and in turn how much it hurts to have them wrenched away from you. Choco was not abandoned; Choco is loved and we want her back. We believe that if we approach the boarder and adoptive family with the full owed amount and the amount paid to adopt her, they will let us adopt her back. In addition to being used to adopt her back, the money will be used to treat a severe ear infection which will, if left untreated, almost certainly cause Choco to go deaf.
