Trying to escape renters trap

My family and I are currently trying to save a down payment for a house, so our amazing little girl can grow up in her own home. I myself am currently disabled, while my amazing wife is working as much as possible. I also have I few roommates which help keep bills paid, after a little research I found out our monthly expenses would be reduced by about 40%, but we need to be able to save a down payment. Hence the renters dilemma. Our current rental house has a bad mold issue as well as twenty or so other problems, so we need to move as soon as possible. Thus I am asking for help.
