The FORESTMAN...going long.

In 2013, by accident, literally, I started Triathlon racing. That's swimming followed by cycling followed by running. During the year I worked my way through each of the distances:

The 'Sprint' = 400m Swim + 20Km Bike + 5Km Run
The 'Olympic' = 1500m Swim + 40Km Bike + 10Km Run
The '70.3' miles = 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim + 56-mile (90 km) bike + 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run.

And then I rang a coach I'd met and said, "do you think you can get me fit enough to complete an IRONMAN distance triathlon in June next year?"

'140.6' miles = 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim + 112-mile (180.25 km) bike + 26.2-mile (42.2 km) marathon run

This is by far the biggest challenge ever, you can read more on my blog andrewnash.co.uk but this is YOUR BIT:

here's who we're raising money for:

"Sussex Cancer Fund" with 1 in every 3 people in the UK diagnosed with some form of cancer we are all at some point touched by this horrendous disease.

I lost two grandparents, two awesome, strong, inspirational individuals.

For the first time in 20+ years, for which I guess small mercies, Cancer has returned and hit a really close family friend. When a mate goes on a family holiday to Cornwall the last thing you expect is a text that says his wife has had emergency surgery, is in Intensive Care, and the removed tumor is cancer.

The world stops, fear grips, questions go unanswered, tears flow.

The Sussex Cancer Centre provides all non-surgical treatments and support for cancer patients in a calm, friendly environment, providing specialist cancer information and advice, counselling services, complementary therapies and help with physical activity.

"Rockinghorse" is the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital - my son Harry both dislocated and fractured his ankle in the summer of 2012 and these guys put him back together again. While Harry was relatively easy to put back together again, the Alex and the Trevor Mann baby unit look after some terribly sick kids in Sussex.

Rockinghorse raise money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, while also ensuring that children are treated in an environment that is better suited to their needs.

"Fairlawn" is based in Ashford (Kent) and their main objective is to relieve and assist the parents of disabled children by providing respite care, children stay at Fairlawn where they are safe and well looked after.

This provides families a couple of days per month to do things that they possibly can't do with their disabled child.

While my son Harry was put together again at the Royal Alex, my cousin Alex's son Marcus (pictured above) who is just 6 weeks younger than Harry is Autistic. Marcus requires 24 hour care and has a wonderfully devoted family around him but for two days a month Marcus spends time at Fairlawn, this giving Alex & Melvyn, and Marcus' two older sisters, Bianca & Olivia some respite time together.

Three awesome charities.....three great sports.....£3000....

Every little helps, please donate if you can. Thank you.
