Upgrade and add to Neyland Park!

Neyland Park was built in the early 70's. Since then there have been a few add-ons by the city. We currently have 4 full size adult softball fields (used for Pinto, Mustang, Pony, and Bronco baseball), 2 T-Ball Fields, 1 Girls Softball Field, and 1 Girls coach pitch Field, giving us a total of 9 fields. We currently lose players because of many issues. Our park is very nice and has a lot of potential (This season like everyone, we had a lot of rain and with that came rain outs, but our fields held water more than the other parks. Even with a week of sunshine we still could not play on some of the fields. The second reason follows the first in what is happening, we are currently competing with newer parks, different organizations, and select ball, that all have nicer facilities. I believe that if we had nicer fields we could get the parents, that can be proud of their park, and in turn we could get more volunteers and players. I know what everyone is thinking, “This is a city park why don't they pay for it?” It’s not in the budget, so that is why we are asking for donations, sponsorship, volunteers, anything you can do to help get this park to a great park that we can all be proud of. The first $100,000 will go to the engineering group to drawn out the plans and to survey the 18 acres of land. Once we have that completed we will have about 9-10 months of work to be done. We are hoping to add another field giving us 10 total fields, add a Flag football field, put a walking track around the whole park, and add a couple more satellite concession stands with restrooms. This year we are cutting the outfields and bringing dirt in to raise and level the outfield, but since that won’t fix the draining issue we have it is a temporary fix.
