Save Goober from Heartworms
When I met Goober...
He was laying in my driveway on the hot summer day we moved into my new Arkansas home. He was rail thin, but his tail still wagged. He was sweet, timid, and charming.
Over time we realized that, while he belonged to the neighbors, they generally ignored his existance. Goober started spending more and more time on our porch. We set up a cool place for him to stay, gave him a water bowl, and, between our dogfood and other neighbors' scraps, he ate twice a day. We began to think of him as "ours".
A year and a half later...
He is well fed, and even happier than before! He has learned to sit and fetch. He's still working on "shake".
This past week we noticed a bad bite behind Goober's ear. The severity of it caused us to gather our collective nerve and take him to the vet for the first time, even though we were afraid our neighbors would be none too pleased. He was a wonderful boy at the vet, facing his neutering with bravery.
But now we know that Goober has heartworms...
The procedure for heartworm removal is rough and quite expensive, but without it Goober will die. We are asking our friends, family, and the extended family of the internet to help us! Your funds will go towards:
~Vet visits and heartworm treatment ($525.00)
~A year of post-treatment preventative meds ($250.00)
~A lean-to and fencing behind our house ($225.00)
Please donate. Any bit helps us to Save Goober!
