For the past three years, I have been struggling with pain and limited mobility in both shoulders and arms. Finally, with no relief in sight, my doctor ordered an MRI, and it was determined that I need shoulder replacement surgery on my left shoulder AND shoulder reconstruction surgery on my right shoulder. This involves a six week period after the surgery when my arm will be in a sling and unable to move AT ALL, followed by a six month rehab period, and this is for each shoulder! The surgeries will be performed consecutively, not at the same time, so the total rehab time will be one year, during which I will have no, or very little, use of my arms! As a musician (guitar and drums), this is devastating to me, personally, professionally, and financially!

The only protocol that shows any promise of relief without surgery, is stem cell injections, which have been shown to regrow tissue and cartilage. While this is unlikely to help my left shoulder, it is very promising for my right shoulder, which is not as badly damaged as the left. The only problem is the treatment is not covered by insurance, and could be as much as $6500 per shoulder! And this doesn't take travel and other expenses to reach the treatment facility into account, which is two hours from my home! Not to mention that I will essentially be unable to work during this period! (Actually, I'm already barely able to work,. I've already pretty much lost the use of both arms!).

Here are a few links to web pages that tell more about this revolutionary new treatment.

The last link is to testimonials from patients who have tried stem cell injections for various ailments. Scroll down, if you will, to the testimonial from Nancy Herman. It's third from the bottom. She was treated with stem cell protocol for the same injuries that I have, multiple rotator cuff tears, and you can see the results!

I'm probably going to bite the bullet and get the surgery on my left shoulder, because stem cell treatment has, thus far, been unable to fix a complete and total tear of the rotator cuff, which is what is wrong with my left shoulder (and a lot more than just that), but while the left arm is rehabbing, and I have six months before I could even consider doing the right shoulder, I would really love to try stem cell treatment to see if I could avoid surgery and get the use of my arm back! The time needed to see if the treatment is successful will be afforded during the lengthy rehab period. By the time it's over for the left shoulder, I will know if the stem cell injections worked!

I thank you in advance for reading this, for showing an interest, and, hopefully, for your donations. Have a wonderful day!
