I transferred to the University of California Santa Cruz in Fall 2013. In my short time here, I have been a Dean’s Honor Student, an Arts Division Internship Program Candidate, an Intern at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, an Irwin Project Grant Recipient and hopefully in Spring 2015, an Art Graduate.
I am having my first solo art show this November at UC Santa Cruz. This show will fulfill my senior comprehensive requirement, allowing me to graduate and receive by Bachelors Degree.
I illustrate by combining detailed inkwork and vivid watercolors. I use portraiture, figurature and patterns to reference vintage, retro and modern culture. I am influenced by commercial illustrations of the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s. I am inspired by cult films, fashion, kitsch, and punk rock.
The money I am raising will go towards paints, brushes, paper, pens, frames, installation tools, prints, stickers and the deposit for the gallery space. I have no other means of funding; my parents unfortunately have been unable to help me throughout my college career. Any part-time job I take or financial aid I receive goes towards my rent, bills, and other school materials. I am always left with little or no money to fund my art.
