Ashley Jades Bone Marrow Transplant

Donation protected
Ashley Jade, 15, was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia November 2011.  This is a very rare bone marrow failure disorder where her body no longer makes red blood, white blood or platelets. She has needed many transfusions to survive and has been dependent on many medications to keep her blood at a safe level.  She was recently diagnosed with MDS, which is pre leukemia. She remains far below a normal level and her doctors have decided that it is time for the only cure.  A transplant. Her bone marrow transplant will be on May 7th 2014. You can follow Ashley's progress at www.facebook.com/prayersforashley Ashley has one 10/10 match in the bone marrow registry and we are so thankful to this person out there!  Ashley continues to help with running drives and giving her time to educate people on this horrible illness and the importance of signing up for the registry.  You can do this by visiting marrow.org. We have chosen a hospital 2 and a half hours away and will be leaving home and work to be by her side for a minimum 100 day stay at the transplant unit and in the Ronald McDonald House in St. Petersburg.  After that she will need to spend many months at home with endless visits to the doctor to ensure her body is accepting the donors bone marrow.  We all have one goal, to get Ashley better and back to a normal life. In school and active with her friends without the worry she has had to live with for over 2 years.  This is a long and difficult journey but one that we pray will end with a happy and healthy teenager. All money will go directly to the Ashley Komanetsky Trust.
