THANK YOU. We never thought we'd hit this goal. We are considering whether to do this on a regular basis -- the need never dwindles and we always seem to get new additions to the colony from abandonments and "walk-ins" from who knows where. Let me know if you think a monthly program to solicit funds to sustain the colony is a good (or poor) idea.

I cannot tell you how overwhelmed we are with the response. I honestly didn't think it would go like this. Thanks to each and every one who participated, whether you donated, shared, or just clicked the "like" button on Facebook.

The outpouring of support is wonderful. We are in the process of gathering materials for new shelters (and shelter repair) right now, and a catfood run is in the very near future. Thank you all so very much.

Precious--almost 10 years old now.

We manage a stable, TNR colony of 45 feral cats (plus 11 rescues we brought inside to keep or foster). I was laid off in January 2013 and have only found part-time work since then. My wife was laid off in January 2014 from her low-paying job. We are both scrambling to find work. We don't want a dime for ourselves, but we have decided to ask for help in feeding our colony.
We spend $450/month on food and shelter costs for the ferals (it has been a bitterly cold winter, and we have lost two cats to the cold -- that's two too many, but because of the many shelters we have built, we saved the rest from freezing).

We are asking for $1000 to get us through two months of cat support. We cannot and will not ask for donations for ourselves, but we have to ask for assistance for our wonderful ferals.

The beautiful guy pictured above is Calvin. About four years ago, he was abandoned by his owner and found his way here. He is very shy and non-aggressive. After a year outside, we brought him in, where he is warm and comfortable (but still leery of the other cats). We cannot bring all 45 inside. They have to stay outside. We do our level best to take care of them, and have done so without a lot of aid for 11 years (we still have two cats from the original colony, Biscuit and Ginger, who are at least 11 years old). But we can't do it on our own any longer.

Please help us take care of our feral cats. Thank you.

Jay and I are no strangers to feral cats so we know how expensive it can get. We hope this helps at least a little bit. :)
