Most people aim for the sky when choosing a career path: doctors, lawyers, the next Beyoncé… I, however, took this a bit more literally. A few years ago, I had my first taste of life as part of a flight crew. I loved it. After some time working in the industry, I hung up my wings and returned home to Rhode Island. I’ve worked multiple jobs simultaneously upon moving back east, but nothing ever compared to my time as a flight attendant. So, after doing some serious research (and daily praying), I re-applied for a position in the career I was meant for, hoping I would be chosen.
The selection process was nerve-racking, with a series of interviews and tests, but I found out that I had passed!! My prayers had been answered, and I am now on my way towards becoming a flight attendant based out of Arizona! Training begins in early February.
Unfortunately, because the selection process was so quick, I am now realizing how much money I needed to save and just how little I have.
Training, which lasts 4.5 weeks, is unpaid, and I will not receive my first pay check for 4-6 weeks following this training period. I now see that relocating from one side of the country to the other and following my dream may not be as easily realized as I once thought. This will be one of my many efforts within the next two weeks to raise $2,000. This money will be used for food, a new apartment, and general cost of living for the weeks during training and until my first pay check arrives.
This I hope is where you all come in and help! I am aware of how difficult times are for everyone at the moment, but please know that every little bit will help. This is an opportunity that I have been waiting a very long time for. I will be doing everything and anything it takes to get to this training and have a means of living while striving to succeed in my dream career. Help make a girl’s dream come true!
