After losing a wonderful friend to cancer and watching as 4 other friends were diagnosed within a matter of months, I decided I had to do something to help. I knew I didn't hold the potential to cure cancer, but I did have the potential to relieve some of the stress for moms fighting this debilitating disease. So, I started cooking and realized it offered these women a sense of peace knowing they would not have to worry about a hot meal on the table for their loved ones. It gave these moms a sense of relief to know 2 trays of food would be delivered every week for their family to eat. We now feed as many as 23 families each week in the Hudson Valley and the need is only growing. It is becoming increasingly harder to cart all the food to health department approved kitchens each week to cook. Since it is necessary that all the food be prepared in these kitchens, I have decided to build a 20 by 15 addition onto my home, which will house an adequate kitchen.
