We, as a society, took 18 years from this man's life and as a society, we need to help him make the rest of his life a bit better.
Even $5 for laundry detergent lessens the worry in his mind. The government is taking their time determining his eligibility for SSI and in the meantime, his very small circle of friends are doing whatever they can and he qualifies for food stamps but other basic needs like hygiene products are still a need.
