We have been housing people for the last couple of years and we've run out of money. We've applied for numerous grants, etc...but nobody seems to think this is a good cause or they donate elsewhere.

The Homes for Good Society works to create meaningful, doable and sustainable strategies for both prevention and intervention of homelessness in Port Coquitlam through housing and community support.
The Homes for Good Society's plan is founded on finding homes for the homeless (closing the front door); and preventing homelessness, including preventing people from becoming homeless again (closing the back door).
The Homes for Good Society is inspired by the goals of the Mayor's Action Team on Homelessness which are to
1. identify and facilitate housing for the homeless and
2. ensure coordination of existing services to provide support to individuals to assist them in staying housed, and to identify voids in these service.
The Strategy: What is Housing First?
The Homes for Good Society operates using the Housing First model to address chronic homelessness. Success within this model in other cities such as Toronto, Denver, and Portland has proven that chronic homelessness is expensive; more expensive than housing. It is more expensive to provide services to the chronically homeless population than to find homes and provide supports to keep these individuals housed. Thus the Housing First model demonstrates that managing homelessness costs more than ending it permanently.
