My name is Gabrielle, and I am a 21-year-old pre-med student. This year for my spring break I want to travel to Malawi with Habitat for Humanity to build housing from the ground up for orphans and their caretakers.
As someone who hopes to be a doctor someday, this trip is especially meaningful to me. My goal is specialize as an OB/GYN and work out of country for a good portion of the year in countries where they lack adequate healthcare (African countries being one of the main places that interest me).
During this Habitat for Humanity trip we will be working with the Orphans and Vulnerable Children project, which supplies decent housing, health education, and legal assistance to orphans and their caretakers.
It seems like the perfect way to travel and learn about a new culture "“ building adequate housing with people native to that country, bettering their community, and leaving a lasting impression. I believe that it would be an experience that benefits everyone involved.
This campaign will help me pay for airfare, and any immunizations I might need to safely travel. I can't think of a better way to spend my spring break, or a better way to experience a new culture. Any support is greatly appreciated! :)
