Please help. Our family has fallen on very hard times. My husband, Carl is a disabled vet who is not able to work due to a heart condition and back issues. He also suffers from PTSD and several other service related problems. He has several claims going with the VA but these things take time and we have run out of time. My job is very low paying and I've been looking for a better job, but nothing I've interviewed for has come through. Even the children, teenagers age 16 & 17, have not had any luck finding jobs. Please help. Our family has fallen on very hard times.

The last several months have been especially difficult as we have struggled with our truck being repossessed, the threat of utility shut off, and dependence on friends and neighbors, as well as local food banks to stock the pantry. I've tried to stay on top of the bills, paying late fees and doubling up missed payments; robbing Peter to pay Paul. Now we are facing eviction if we don't pay the rent current by Christmas Eve. To make matters worse, our truck, the sole source of transportation, needed to move if that becomes the case, has broken down and it will take most of the money we have managed to save for the rent to fix. Carl has many doctor appointments including several evaluations to determine his disability claim eligibility that we need him to be able to make. Without the truck, or a place to live, it will be likely that he will not make them and that would cause his health to be in jeopardy and his disability claim to be denied. In addition, we are training Sarah Jane, to be his service dog. If we are evicted, he may lose her and that would be devastating to both of them.

If we are evicted, we will have to stay in a motel, or find friends to stay with. Unfortunately, the family shelter we were referred to is full already and all the usual emergency fund charities are out of funds. It will be very difficult for us to keep the boys in school and for me to keep my job if we are homeless without the truck.

This whole year has been a parade of one problem after another, eating all our savings and leaving us staring at the real possibility of being homeless AND losing all of our possessions by Christmas. We haven't bothered to decorate. There are no presents, not even for our grandchildren. If you find it in your heart to help, your money will be going to helping us get our truck fixed and keep or get a roof over our heads.

Blessings,
