Happy New Year Everyone! Hope yours is going great so far! Im still trying to make this happen but got a long way to go before this Saturday (My deadline). Remember if I don't hit the goal I'll be giving the money to charities around the area. So why not start out the New Year helping get an item off a bucket list and making a dream come true :) A buck goes a long way! Have a great 2014!
Had a great Christmas, hope you did as well. Enjoyed seeing friends and family. Santa didn't make here to help with the bucket list :( but it's not too late. 11 days till the big game and still have a way to go! Thanks to all that have helped out. Remember if I don't reach the goal I will put the money toward a good cause. Thanks again!
It's been a busy few days. A few Christmas parties over the last couple of weeks. Still have people talking about this goal on my bucket list. Im still trying, haven't given up yet. But the game is coming up fast so hope something really kicks in soon :) Guess we'll see. If nothing else I'll be able to help out others with the money if the goal isn't reached. Just a buck could help me reach the goal. Maybe Santa will come up with the rest!
Well game is less than 3 weeks away. Boy if Im gonna make it then this has to kick in fast! At almost 5% got 95% to go. If you can help out please do and I'll get this off my Bucket List. Just a $1 can make it happen. Thanks everyone.
It was a day of driving. Made it back to Augusta after a great weekend in Bama. Got a little plug on "War Eagle Daily" the other day. It's under the sports section click here... http://paper.li/SteveWainright/1340187998
Picture is of the best gift I've been given so far this year... The overall best gift would be helping me make it to the BCS Championship game! Thanks for your help.
The best Christmas gift so far this year
Had Christmas in Bama today. It was a blast even if we had FSU and Alabama fans there :) lots of food, gifts, and fun games. This is the only time of year I get to see some of my family. They are all pulling for me to make the game. Even helped out some. Still working on this item on my bucket list. Thanks for your help and happy holidays!
Happy Friday! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm still with family in Bama. You know you're in North Alabama when all you hear is "Roll Tide" in place of hello and goodbye! Wellll all I can say is War Eagle! Still working on the dream of making it to the game. Thanks for your help!
Made my way to Bama this weekend with the family. It's Christmas in Dixie this weekend. Let's see what the family gives to the cause... Lol. Thanks to all that helped out today. Getting closer to the dream. Thanks everybody.
What a good day... Had fun a work with drink n drown but now really pumped to see my family in Bama this weekend. It's Christmas in Dixie for me this weekend. Thanks again for the people helping out, we're at almost 4% of goal as of now. Thanks again! War Eagle!
Slowing getting there... It's funny how many people are coming up to me and talking about this. Even people walking up and giving money for the cause, making a dream come true. If for some reason you don't want to donate online Im sure you can find me out and about. You know I'll be at Coyotes on Peach Orchard Rd on Wednesday night. Thanks again everyone!
2 days in at 1.5%. I was thinking about what I would do if I didn't hit my goal and Im not able to go to the national championship game (I don't want that to happen but it could). I'm going to use a small part of the money to have a party the night of the game with friends and family and the rest will go to local charities. So know what you donate will be used for good! I'll let ya know about the charities when we get closer to Jan 6th... that's if I can't go to the game. Man, I want this dream to come true. Thanks for the support.
After 24 yours almost hit 1% of overall goal. Thank you guys very much! It's just a dream that I have and something Ive wanted to do my whole life and not sure if I'll ever get that chance again.
Below you will read the original message when this started. It was a joke because I've always wanted to see Auburn in a National Championship game and some people said I should take donations. I never thought I would reach the goal set (which was $6k) but knew what I would do with the money that was donated when I didn't reach the goal.
So I started thinking... I know a LOT of people and I want to help others. So what I'm doing is turning this into a Go Fund Me page which I will give the money to Charities and use to help people by paying it forward.
Each month I will pick a new charity and a new person/family to give the money to. The month will run from the 6th to the 5th. If you can help great! If not it's cool. If nothing else I will open your eyes to places that need help and you can do what you want (Give the money here or send straight to them). This month from Jan 6th 2014 - Feb 5th 2014 part of the money will go to Ronald McDonald House of the CSRA.
I will also take a small part to help someone (Maybe someone that lost a house, a family member, someone that is sick, etc.). So it is known those donations (Pay it forward) to people / families will be anonymous as I do not want people to thank me or feel some need to repay.
The money raised each month is listed below...
Dec 6th 2013 - Jan 5th 2014 - $367
Jan 6th 2014 - Feb 5th 2014 -
Here's the original post...
Hello! My name is
Dakota West. I live in Augusta, GA but
was raised in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
Tuscumbia is in Northwest Alabama about an hour and half north of Tuscaloosa,
AL. Being from that area you would think
I would be an Alabama Crimson Tide fan but I'm not, I'm a 100% Auburn
Tiger! I've been a fan of Auburn my
whole life. No, I didn't go to school at
Auburn, if you're not from the state it may be hard for you to understand. When you're raised in Alabama you MUST pick a
side and I did at a young age, that side was Auburn. I've been lucky that I've made it to a few
Auburn football games but my dream has been to go to a bowl game which Auburn
was in. The ultimate dream was to see
Auburn play in a bowl game for a National Title.
In 2010 I wasn't able to make the trip to see
Auburn win the National Championship due to finances and I thought I would
never have the chance again but thanks to the 2013 Auburn Tigers I now have another
chance. The only trouble I have with
this dream is once again finances.
42 year old husband, father of two great boys, and we have 3 wonderful
dogs. I work a fulltime job, my wife
does as well. We're just a middle class
family living paycheck to paycheck as most do.
If I had the money to make this trip on my own I would go in a heartbeat
but as I said it's a paycheck to paycheck type of life. What I'm asking is for your help to live a
dream of mine: See the Auburn football team play for a national
championship. I'm not sure if I will
ever get this chance again, I hope but you never know.
2014 BCS National Championship game is on the other side of the country this
year in Pasadena, California on Monday, January, 6th
2014. So far I've found travel packages for this
game starting at about $2200 per person for hotel and ticket to the game and
that doesn't include airfare or any other expenses. I'm guessing that this dream of mine will
cost over $6000 for me and my wife. I'm not going to tell you a sob story about
myself or my family, I'm just telling you the truth, it's a Dream of mine to
make this trip.
I'm asking you, my
friends, family, Auburn fans, football fans, and dreamers to help me live a
lifelong dream. Help me get this off my bucket list.
If for some reason I don't reach my goal and get to go to the game I will give to local charities like Columbia County Humane Society and others.
Thanks for anything you
can donate and War Eagle!
