Laine's Relocation to San Diego

Hi there!

I'm Laine; if you're seeing this you probably already know me and need no introduction.  I'm a writer; I write a monthly column on LGBT issues for the print newspaper The Empty Closet; I blog on matters spiritual on Pagan Church Lady (on Wordpress); I create stories for the Empyrean Dreams universe (on Blogspot); I write creatively for my own pleasure and productively for money.  I'm a lot of other things as well: an activist, a gamer, a dreamer, a doer, a friend, a ear and voice for counsel, and a helper.

I've recently gone through some major changes in my life.  I was set to be married in June, and that didn't happen.  I moved out of my home and away from my family in Rochester to find haven in Buffalo and have been searching for a place to live elsewhere.

I have been lucky enough to be provided a plane ticket to and accomodations in San Diego by my dear friend Nick Walker Hirsch.  As I have been only barely scraping by financially I'm looking for assistance from any who are willing to help me move.

When I travel I intend to carry with me all the things that I feel I contribute to the world: my LGBT activism, my writing, my voice, wit and words, my warmth, my stories, my spirituality, my love, my desire to change the world for the better and my dedication to the well being of my kin.  I want to lay down new, strong roots in a new place that I know will be better for me.

So I'm asking for help.  Any money provided will go towards funding my travel, purchasing a bed (which I will need), professional wear for the interviews I hope to have lined up when I arrive, medical expenses, and shipping my belongings that I cannot carry in a suitcase, and helping to contribute to the home that I live in.  What it will not go towards is recreation or unnecesary things; you have my word on that and if you know me you know the value of that.

Please help me to start a new life by helping to make my travel to and arrival in San Diego as smooth as possible.  The die is already cast and the plans made, but a little help would go a long way towards me being able to set down roots and start out life succesfully.
