The Sockman has a new challenge; I can always use socks preferably heavy white ones calf high or higher and they must be new. The second request is since the villages and towns are making ordinances against people feeding the Houseless could you start buying food gift cards in 5,10, 15-dollar amounts that way I don't have to pay fines or go to jail. My house has sold so my brother was so kind to let me use his address for mail. As far as sending socks at this point I don’t have an address or a place for them to be delivered but I will announce that when I have it. If you need his address private message me. If you still want to donate financially you can still go to GoFundme.com pages it is always open. I would love to keep getting socks but in a little predicament right now, but go ahead and buy them I’ll figure this out. Thank You
To the Sockman Group: I'm 10 days into my recovery after the total hip replacement surgery. Looks like I'm a 90 year old man walking with a walker but I am glad that I am fully weight bearing, staples come out Wed. and God knows how long physical therapy will be but I am on the mend, and missing my homeless friends. Thank you everyone for supporting me, praying for me and just calling me your friend. Tom (The Sockman) McNamara
The Sockman maybe down but not out. I am having total hip surgery Sept. 2nd and as soon as I'm on my feet I will be back on the road.....yea!!!!yea!!!
Thank you for all the support and excitement you have poured into my life. It makes me push and love what I am doing. Thank You.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support my efforts. I have had to make some hugh adjustments since I crashed my RV and and have had some medical issues. When the RV is up and running and my health improves I will be back on the road until then I will be doing local volunteering. My prayers are with all of you.
Gave 200 pairs of socks away on Venice Beach in an 1.5 time frame, great day. Got to also spend the day with my son which is always a great day when I spend it with family. I have started to go to smaller towns and help the homeless thinking that they may not have the resources needed.
Thank You all again for supporting my efforts.
I'm in San Diego and gearing up to give a fair amount of socks away.
Back on the road again down Route 66 hoping to hit some of the smaller towns that usually won't have the same funding as the big ones. I would like to make a difference in their lives.
Leaving tomorrow to St. Louis Tent City, then Tulsa, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Reno, Las Vegas"¦..Hoping to give out at least 4000 pairs of socks and get some great stories.
Getting ready to leave monday to the west to find homeless to give socks to. Thank you everyone for everything now I am going to ask 1 more thing"¦pray for my safety.
Talking about the Sockman trip on public radio, speaking to 40 million listeners. Want them to help with gofundme page. Please pray that people are urged to get in solved.
The Homeless page is going to stay up indefinite since our population is rising but I do believe people are starting to take notice in our government blunders of cutting vets donations, cutting jobs, causing more people to the streets with less skills to deal with, mental health get more cuts and just displacing people that just dobn't fit in.
I am very please to say that we made our goal and much more but I am keepiong this site open for continued support because I believe I will pass out all the socks I have and more.
Thank You Again
Mike I haven't seen you in forever. I hope your music is still going great. It is with my honor to use your money in covering our homeless populations feet.

I would like to Thank everyone who had a part in making this mission become a reality and for the nice, kind words I have received on my ABC-15 video.
God Bless you all.
You posted a new update message:Was just filmed by ABC News in Arizona about the sockman. Hope it gets aired all over. My understanding is locally right now.
I have decided to concentrate on The Sockman in the United States so I have cancelled my campaign of the Internation Teaching to just The Sockman. I feel concentrating on 1 good campaign is more than enough for me and I can do more justice for the homeless right here. Thank you everyone who was behind my international teaching, someday. Thank You
I just did a Stand Down for the VFW 5040 in Woodstock, Illinois. It was very beneficial to participate in this function which allowed me the opportunity to talk with retired vets, give them socks and HOPE that their lives still mean something to some of us. Some of these families like lots of American's are fighting for their homes, food, medical, legal counsel, and benefits that they deserve. They went and fought for our FREEDOMS some gave all while others keep continuing to give from the scars that they received away from home or getting home to a government that is not willing to help them as much as it promised. Given the opportunity to donate to such a worthy cause such as (The Sockman) to continue this mission of donating sock to the homeless and vets. I would like to thank you in advance for your consideration, prays and allowing our vets HOPE for the future.

It has been calledd to my attention that people still don't know where and how to make an donation either through socks or financially. He are the site: Financially go to : GoFundMe.com Tom McNamara
The nice part about this site is that you can donate and tell me where you want the monies to go. 1 socks, 2 meals for homeless, mantinennce for rv or water for homeless. Please let me know I willuse your money for what you want and I will make an accounting and receipt to you. Thank You Tom (The Sockman) McNamara.
Vet who uses what the government supply
As you can see I have lowered my financial request of 50,000 down to 3,000 the reason being I have had some huge pabliciy lately starting with the Northwest Hearld, Then "The Week Magazine" then to James Miller who has an educational blog site US wide and now his friend from "The Guardian Magazine" wants to do an article. Along with that I have 2 sock companies sending me socks and then we will negotiate a per sock price. I can't thank my friend more at helping me accomplish this mission.
ps I was also recommended by someone to the Chicago Blackhawks to get behind this mission and find out who the man in the know is.
What a dream come true.
Listen to what he has to say: It's humiliating to be shaking a cup 24 hours a day. People walk by and say get a job, I'm not a bum, I'm a human being. Look at all the people who don't look at him, they look down, they get out of his way"¦"¦.I want to make everyone aware that this is 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I'm trying to do my part and give these people back some self respect. If this touched you in anyway please donate a pair of socks to a homeless person or send socks to me tom 1364 snowberry lane crystal lake, ill. 60014 or go to gofundme .com and make a donation so when I'm on the road and need socks I can buy some, use the money to take some into an establishment buy them some food and have a conversation with them. They are no different than us, they want love, friends, conversations, a place to stay and work. Lets get them back on their feet putting a sock on a foot one foot at a time.
Thank You The Sockman of crystal lake http://news.softpedia.com/news/Viral-of-the-Day-Homeless-Man-Says-He-s-No-Bum-but-a-Human-Being-356547.shtml
The last couple of days has been a whirl wind. I was told last night that I was in a national magazine The Week, it talked about my mission and what I have been up to. Then today James Miller who is a teacher that writes a blog site to keep teachers motivated in the profession and after interviewed me for almost 2 hours and he will call me when the blog is up.
He was amazing to talk with, his spirit was warm and very relaxed. Thank you again everyone who is helping me move forward with my mission.
I have 2 gyms in competion for socks Springhill Gmnastics Club. The owner MJ I coached in High School and she was the stud to beat. Then in competion with the is USGTC in Lake Zurich, I was the head girls coach their for 8 years. Any other clubs that are interested in raising socks for me please feel free to put you name inb the hat.
It seems I am at a standstill with suggestions, motivations, and just out right begging for finances. Talk to you priests, pastors, classroom, departments, clubs etc. I would be happy to come and explain what I am doing to get people interested in our own country again. Yes the world has problems but we are the richest country in the world but we have starvation, homelessness, illness, and a wide variety of other forms of abuse that we the people can help our own citizens. Please stand for something because you can fall for anything"¦"¦America Love It.
I would like to thank Teresa Thomas French and all of her students for having a Socktoberfest. I know it took awhile for me to get out to her house but nun the less they raised 400 pairs of socks and had plenty of fun.
Went out today and found a homeless man..recieved pairs of socks from Joan MeEneely despite her fighting her own battle. Please pray for her. Thank You
Went to the Chicago Hockey game the other night with Craig, myself, Little Lisa from DOT,DOT,DOT and her boy friend Mike. Great time had by all, as we were going in I handed out 5 pairs of socks. The homeless people were so appreciative, especially on such a cold night. Please I am still looking for money to fund for more socks. Thank You
Ok as you all know I am a Blackhawks fanatic but I have decided that this ministry has become my top priority so I have to find out if I could have a silent auction. If I can everything I have Blackhawks related will be sold. I will have a picture of everything that is for sale. I am hoping to raise monies for my program. Thanks for listening.
Went down to Justa Center with Barry again handed out 24 pairs of socks. I have also been riding around at The Shadow Hours and have met some interesting charters to say the least but with it being in the 30's I feel I need to be out there helping. The stories will be on my blog. Thank you everyone who has contributed in any way. Merry Christmas to all.
Went down to Justa Center in Phoenix and handed 24 pairs of socks today. Justa Center is the only center in the nation that only works with our senior homeless age 55 and old. Most of them get a residence and some do get back into the work force. This program is awesome to watch work.
Kicking off a new campaign helping the Homeless
Kicking off Homelessness USA
As you all know I have become very involved in making people aware of the growing numbers of Homeless in the United States. Some of you might be aware that I am so committed in my mission that I sold my house and bought an rv to use full-time meeting the sock needs of the homeless. I am once again asking my friends, aquantences, and people who don't even know me to help me with this mission. The goal I set is just what it is, it is a goal. If I receive 25.00 dollars it is 25.00 more than what I have now. I have been blessed by my friends with socks, sleeping bags, water, and finances but as we all know these don't last for ever. I do still have socks to pick up as I get to different states but I have been financing these trips by myself. So what I am asking once again for are socks, sleeping bags, water or finances. The financial side of this endeavor would be the best and easiest for both you and me.
If you decided to help me with my mission and do so financially you may also request where the monies go. If you only want it to go to material supplies say so, if you want it to go to rv matinence please also let me know and if you don't care I will use it as I see fit at the time I need it. I know this is a bad time of the year to be asking anything of anybody but think for a moment of what it is like to be homeless, cold, hungry, and not knowing how to get out of the state they are in:.socks are a very basic need but a big need just the same. If all you can support me with is a good prayer than I will take that and have God protect me on my journey.
