Photography for the Philippines Updated

Spende geschützt
Thank you to everyone who helped us achieve our initial goal and raising enough money to buy Mark a camera! We are inspired by your generosity and sense of urgency and want to keep this momentum going. Now that we've accomplished that goal, we want to involve you in helping us continue raising money for the rebuilding efforts in the Filipino communities that Mark will be documenting.

Mark and I are committed to using all excess funds raised through this campaign to help the Philippines rebuild. We're working on the details now, but we want to encourage you to continue giving and spreading the word. THANK YOU to everyone who has donated already and helped us reach our initial goal so incredibly quickly!

Let's keep helping Mark serve the Philippines!

Original campaign message...
My friend Mark has been given a unique opportunity to use photography to help Typhoon Haiyan survivors recover and rebuild. And he needs our help. A few days before he was set to start an important volunteer mission requiring his photography skills, his camera was stolen. It's my goal to raise enough money to replace his camera to help him help others, one photo at a time.

Mark is already on the ground in the Philippines, where he has lived and served as a community development volunteer for the last three years. He knows both the national language and the local language of the region in the storm's path, as well as the local geography. He will be joining a team of engineers in traveling to the locations in the Philippines most heavily affected by Typhoon Haiyan, interviewing locals about their priorities and needs, photographing and documenting the situation at the ground level.

The goal of this mission is to provide an accurate perspective to those in influential positions so that rebuilding efforts and aid are effectively targeted at the long-term needs and priorities of the community. Mark will serve as a liaison between the local community advisers and the engineers, aid agencies and financial institutions that all have a stake in rebuilding after the storm.

Unfortunately, volunteers like Mark live very modestly and his ability to assist in the relief effort is contingent upon his ability to communicate a desperate population's needs through photography. He is currently posed with the unenviable decision of spending his living stipend on a new camera or abandoning an important role that he is uniquely qualified to fill. Please consider donating whatever you are able to help Mark help the Philippines. Your money will go directly to an individual who can effectively contribute to an important relief effort in an area that has endured incredible devastation.

You will be able to live vicariously through your donation by following Mark along the way: http://www.markdugganphotography.blogspot.com/

Maraming salamat po! Thank you!
