Stephen's Motorized Wheelchair Fund

Stephen Gibson is one cool 9 year old. Sure, he's got scoliosis and cerebral palsy, but he's just like any other 4th grader. He loves basketball, video games, and dancing. I got to know him over the summer of 2012 at Lighthouse Camp in Cleveland and I knew he was one of a kind. Click on the below link for a video of Stephen and you'll agree with me.

Stephen's awesome green wheelchair with light up wheels was stolen on Sunday, November 10, along with holiday food his family had in the garage refrigerator. The Plain Dealer wrote several stories about the stolen chair and has since gotten a tremendous response from people and organizations about donating a new manual wheelchair.

I spoke with Stephen's mother, Barbara Gibson, twice today (Tuesday, November 12). She informed me that Stephen's physical therapist indicated that his scoliosis is going to require him to upgrade to a motorized wheelchair in the coming months, and that's going to require significant upgrades to the family's home.

She'll be able to get the motorized wheelchair through insurance, but in order to even qualify for it, she needs to have a ramp built and have her vehicle modified to be able transport a motorized chair. That's where all the expenses will be and Stephen's family doesn't have the resources for that.

This story is about more than just giving a great kid a mode of transportation that was taken away from him. It's about helping out a family who needs and deserves it. We are all so grateful for what we have. That gives us even more reason to chip in $5, $10, $20, whatever you can to help give Stephen the means of getting around just like we all can.

Please share this with anyone you think will be interested in donating. Every single dollar raised will be given in the form of a check to Stephen Gibson and his family to pay for all the expenses they have coming associated with a motorized wheelchair. I, along with Stephen's mom, truly appreciate your support!
