Thank you to everyone who donated, helped spread the word, and send words of kindness. Please know that you all meant as much to him as he did to you.

A very special thank you to my amazing colleagues at Fiserv who donated either directly or by purchasing raffle tickets for the beautiful quilt made and donated by Rachel Crews. Thank you all so much for your support and generosity!
Joe wrote: "Wow! Looks like I just might make it thru winter after all! Its been real tight all winter & everyone who has helped out, trust me, it's been deeply appreciated as the fund sends money once a month. There were times we wouldn't have made it thru the month w/out this fund's assistance. So deep and sincere thanks to those who helped out. So many have been so generous! I don't know what I'd do w/out all the generosity shown my way. I humbly thank you all."

Valentine's Day is two weeks from today. It is also -- last I heard -- the day that Joe's book Saudades is due to be released. Let's give Joe something else to celebrate and hit that $10K fund goal by Valentine's Day! We can do it -- with all of Joe's Facebook friends, only $5 a person get us there! I know many of you have already given and thank you sincerely for your contributions. Let's make this happen, just 5 bucks each will get us there!
Joe is back at Tufts after spiking a high fever over the weekend. He is getting a lot of needed sleep and is resting comfortably. Please keep sending him messages of encouragement and support.
Thank you all for the outpouring of support. I've decided to raise the goal to $10,000. Since the doctors were unable to perform HIPEC, Joe will undergo a round of traditional chemotherapy after a 6-8 week recovery period. He has had good days and bad days but overall is moving in the right direction. He will be transferred to a rehab facility on Cape Cod in the coming days. Please keep your posts and comments coming. While he does not always have the energy right now to respond, please know that he is reading them and drawing so much strength from his support network. Please continue to help promote the fund by sharing the link online. Also, if anyone would like to print and hang signage for the fund, please scroll down and click on the gray "New! Print a Sign" button. It is located about halfway down the page to the left of the GoFundMe logo and above the Comments section. Thank you again for all that you are doing to help Joe through this time. Happy New Year!
I took this picture of Joe & Josy on Christmas Eve. It's such a great pic I just had to share it with all of you. Happy New Year.
Joe was moved from ICU to a regular room yesterday and is doing very well considering all he has been through. It is incredible and inspiring to see someone with so much strength and resolve just hours after a grueling surgery. He is amazing! He should be at Tufts for about a week, but of course they will play that by ear. He sends his love and gratitude to all.
Joe came out of surgery around 3:00 p.m. and is resting comfortably. While they were not able to perform the HIPEC procedure, they did remove a good amount of the cancer. He will begin chemo after a period of recovery. I was able to visit him briefly, and in true Joe fashion he was in great spirits and incredibly full of energy! Amazing for someone who just went through 6+ hours of surgery. Thank you for all of the support. Please drop him a note and let him know that you are thinking of him!
Joe is in surgery at Tufts. Please take a moment today to send a prayer or other positive energy his way. Thank you for your support!
Thank you so much to this week's donors. The fund may hit $6K by Christmas! Everyone's generosity is soooo appreciated. Every dollar helps. Wishing all of you a safe, happy and healthy holiday!
Wishing all of Joe's supporters a happy, safe and healthy holiday season!
Joe's surgery has been scheduled for December 30th. Please keep your prayers, healing light and positive energy coming his way. Thank you for all that you have done and all that you are doing!
I would like to send a great big thank you to all of the anonymous donors who have contributed to Joe's fund. I don't know who you are, but you do - so on behalf of Joe and the rest of our family, please know how much your kindness is appreciated!
Amazing to have hit goal in only 2 weeks! Let's not stop there. Please continue to share this link and help spread the word in any way you can.
Hoping you all had a great Thanksgiving. Joe and all of my family are so grateful for all the love and support you have shown to him. We are thankful for all of you!
How grateful I am for the amazing support network that Joe has. Only two weeks and the fund has already raised over $4,800! Wishing each and every one of you a happy Thanksgiving.
In times like this we all think, "I wish I could do something to help." You CAN help, and here's how: donate to the Joe Gouveia Recovery Fund to help with bills during this fight against cancer! Every dollar helps, so no donation is too small. Please keep Joe in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your support!
