It has been a while and I'm happy to report on some positive progress in the past year after Typhoon Haiyan left my hometown devastated on November 7, 2013.
First and foremost, my parents have rebuilt their home and are about finished with a second housing reconstruction project (the former Tacloban Montessori Center) to provide shelter for homeless relatives.
People are also preparing for Pope Francis' special visit to Tacloban on January 15th. We hope this continues to spotlight the country's plight and generate long-term aid from the international community, and more importantly, give hope for the victims and foster true collaboration among local political parties to provide the necessary aid to those who need it most.
I'm also very proud and supportive of the efforts of ClassAct, a project my cousin, Pam Damarillo, is part of to help disaster-struck areas of the country with the building of "Active Schools".
Please feel free to like their Facebook page and contribute if you are so inclined:
Again, thank you so much for your continued prayers and support. Merry Christmas!
