Friends of Ken Howell, known as "Uncle Zip" the Beef Jerky Man are banding together to help raise money for his treatment, so he can focus ALL his energy on getting better!
Ken, the "Jerky Man," highlighted in a 2011 episode of "The Shark Tank" with a pitch to millionaires on the show to invest in his "Zips Beef Jerky," made from a recipe inspired by his father is battling a serious condition that requires treatment at Chapel Hill and needs our help!
During the first week in the hospital, testing revealed a large GIST tumor high in his small intestines, a spot on his liver, and several areas with swollen lymph nodes. After receiving transfusions for a week, he was released from the hospital and referred to Chapel Hill for treatment. Although Ken recently took a full-time job in commercial sales at a local pest control company to supplement his beef jerky business, he got sick before he was qualified for medical insurance and was actually terminated on the day he was released from Cape Fear Valley.
