Today I learned that complaints hace been made to customer service about the authenticity of my story and the honesty of my intentions. I wish my story wasn't true! I wish my dear sweet husband was still here and that I'm not living this nightmare. I wish hadn't suffered through brain cancer and that we were going about our usual business for this time of of planning our family's Christmas! I wish he hadn't messed up our finances prior to diagnosis.i wish my children weren't missing their father and that our grandchildren were still able to have their fun times with Papa. But the reality is I'm here trying to save a sinking ship! The truth is I'm still here because of all the love shared with me and the support of family and friends. I can't understand how anyone could keep adding drama to an already difficult situation. It's all authentic, the pain is there on a daily basis. Can't get more real than this!!

Dear friends and family~~I still feel the need to express how thankful I am for every single cent that was contributed to our family. There will never be enough words or ways to express our gratitude. Keven blessed us in many ways, one of them was making us part of the Special Forces community. Divine design couldn't have landed us in a more supportive and loving community! Every time I pay a bill or contemplate my future, I am reminded of the unbelievable way this account soared when it was posted. I'll never forget it! THANK YOU again!

I am sitting here thinking of my life before Keven died, and my life since he's died. Two days ago I was down and thinking of how everything I once knew is gone...to include the safety and security of Keven himself. I thought of this fund raiser and how amazing the response has been and this made me realize how much I've gained and how much my "family" has grown! I cannot thank everyone enough. I would already be out of this house and living with someone trying to recover. You've given me the precious gift of time. I'm working hard to manage everything correctly and not waste a dime, or a minute! THANK YOU!!!

On Valentine's Day 2013 my husband was diagnosed with brain cancer, glioblastoma multiforme to be specific. He served as a Green Beret in the USArmy for almost 30 years, retiring in 2010 as a Sergeant Major. Always a family man who took care of us financially, it was shocking to discover the financial disaster he created before we realized he was sick. Our life insurance papers were found on his desk, completed but in his mental confusion he never sent them back in with payment. As his treatment began, he was unable to work. My job was his full-time caretaker. Over several months I was able to correct some of his financial messes. This is not how Keven took care of business, this was a result of the brain cancer.

On September 15th 2013 Keven lost his battle with brain cancer. The seven months he lived we did everything we could to save his life. We have never loved so hard as we have over this time. I still cannot believe he's gone. My heart hurts every single day missing him.

The day Keven passed on his retirement pay was stopped. Having spent all of our savings to correct the financial mess created prior to his diagnosis, I am left with literally nothing. I plan to go to work, but our bills are more than my income will be. I will sell what I can but I can't do that until his will is out of probate. (State law requires this) I have been told by VA that I do not qualify for any benefits from VA. Social Security is closed down with the government shut down. But I'm not even sure I will be receiving anything from them. The only benefit I've been able to salvage is medical insurance for myself.

Our children and I are asking for any donation you can spare to help us keep our home and pay the bills. Every donation counts! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I agree with Michael Cooks comments 100%. Mendy, I do not believe you need to "prove" anything to anyone who doubts this. We all (with in this very close knit community) know and that is all that matters. Those that doubt obviously are not a part of this community. Keep your head up! You have all of our continued love, prayers, and support.

Hi Mindy, I'm so happy to hear about the generous outpoor of donations. I also was diagonised with the same type brain tumor in 2000. Mark Shanks of Sunnybrook Farm Herbs in Amsterdam, OH let me know that Kevin had passed. I am so sorry for your loss. I hoped that my donation would help. God Bless your family and let Kevin's memory live on.

Can you all let me know who doesn't think Keven and our story are legitimate? I will gladly share whatever it takes to show we are 100% honest here.

Kevin was one of my team Sgts in 3rd Bn 10th group. He is legit.

Hey, Kimberly Paige, thanks for your warning....but it isn't needed or required. SF is a small community and if your friend didn't know Kevin then he's probably not part of our community. We watch our ranks very closely....so thanks, now but out!

Keven would want this for you....speaks volumes to how many lives he's touched and you've touched with his story

I'm so blown away by all of this generosity! I truly am! I was hoping to raise enough money to pay for the probate attorney and pay a few bills on the first. There really are no words I can think of that explains how I feel. I bawled my head off when it hit a number that gives me two months worth of bill coverage. Miracle! That's what this is, a miracle.

Mendy, Just keep letting the help flow. I know that your goal was only 10,000 but that is such a small amount in the scheme of things. Tom and I wish you the very best and if you ever need anything please know our door is always open!

Mendy--John and I also live in Fountain and are part of the SF family. I remember meeting you at the Christmas party and I knew Keven in Real Estate as well. We are very sorry for your family's loss and would like to help in any way.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost my dad a veteran to cancer when I was young. My mother got a one time benefit from social security of $100. HOWEVER the good news is because I was under 18 we got a benefit of I think $300 a month until I finished high school. Hope this helps you when they reopen.

Kevin was in Iraq with my brothers team. Kevin also fought very hard to get my brother leave to come to California at a time I really needed him to be there and I would not have been here if my brother did not come. My condolences to you and your family. I pray that your life normalizes at this difficult time and you find happiness again.
