Updates: 22 September 2013

NORMAN, Oklahoma (September 22, 2013)Police arrested a 17-year-old boy for the murder of a Nicholas Williams who was gunned down inside his own apartment on September 14. The arrest happened a day before the family of Nicholas Williams held a funeral.Williams was gunned down inside his own apartment in the Quorum Condominiums a week ago. On Friday, Norman police arrested Williams' alleged killer, a 17-year-old boy who they say lived in the same complex as Williams. Because of the boy's age, police could not release his identity.Captain Tom Easley with the Norman Police department would not say how detectives connected the suspect to the murder but said they believe the information is "solid."

"[The suspect] was in the process of burglarizing the victim's residence, didn't realize the victim was at home perhaps, and that led to the shooting, apparently when he was confronted by the victim," explained Easley.
Police say the suspect took off after shooting Williams. Williams called 911 to report he had been shot. Medics rushed him to Norman Regional Hospital where he died from the gunshot wound. News of the murder shocked people who live at the Quorum Condominiums.
"Right next door, you know my granddaughter's bedroom is right there and it's right next door and it's kind of scary," said Christina Walters on the day of the killing.
Norman Police expect the 17-year-old to be charged as an adult with first-degree murder early this week. That's when they'll be able to release his name. Easley did not know if the suspect has a criminal past.
All funds received will be used to pay for funeral expenses and expenses associated with keeping the website www.4nickwilliams.com for life. We would also like to start a scholarship fund in Nick's honor and award it annually to a college student. Your donations will help us to accomplish these tasks.
